Boot Camp Training information:
Our boot camp training program is the best deal we offer for the customers who are ready to get to the next level. Boot camp training is an 8-10 week training program that teaches your horse all the basics as well as get all of his/her nasty bad habits out! This program is perfect for horses who have a kicking, bucking, biting, issues with handling feet, head tossing, etc. problem and for horses that need to be started under saddle. Your horse will be worked at least 6 days a week for 2 hours a day in the roundpen, arena, and out on the trails. This will allow horses to use obstacles, get use to riding in small and large groups as well as alone, loud noises, and more! If you are looking to get your horse prepared for children, showing, performance, elder riders, riding lessons, etc. this is the program for you! The overall goal of the boot camp training program is to get your horse or colt “city kid broke” meaning anyone can jump on and go without worry.
Monthly and Weekly Training Information:
The monthly and weekly training programs are for customers who want miles on their horses feet without as many days in training. Monthly and weekly horses will still be worked at least 2 hours per day 6 days a week (weekly will be worked 7) but will not go through the entire boot camp program. AA Horsemanship recommends owners who are wanting their colts to be started to do the boot camp program as they will have more time under saddle but will accept colts in the monthly program. Horses will be worked in the roundpen, arenas, and out on the trails.
Advanced Training Programs:
Once your horse completes the boot camp training program you can choose to continue your horses education further down the road or right after training. Advanced training includes stage 2 training, stage 3 training, and trick training. The stage 2 program will focus on getting your horse ready for performance and focusing on softening your horse’s entire body. Stage 3 is the advanced training series where your horse will learn the performance side of training such as spins, two tracking, flying lead changes, etc. Please contact Ashley for pricing on advanced training.
Training can be paid upfront or in payments that fit your budget for no additional cost.

Q: Why should I send my horse to AA Horsemanship for training? What sticks you out from the rest?
A: While there are numerous horse trainers in the world Ashley doesn’t train to just have a job. Horses are given premium care and attention to focus on their needs rather than being treated as “just another paycheck”. Ashley does not allow more than 6 horses at a time during training and very rarely will she exceed 4 horses to ensure quality time with your horse. Ashley uses proven techniques from the ground up and helps build your horse’s confidence, agility, performance, and all around manners to create your dream safe horse. Each horse will be worked for at least 2 hours/day 6 days a week to keep training consistent and easy to follow for your horse. In addition to the premium care your horse will receive, Ashley will donate your pickup date to an all day private lesson with you and your horse for no additional cost! This allows you to work with Ashley one on one and learn how to communicate effectively with your horse. Ashley also wants to know how your horse is doing after training and wants to hear if you run into any problems. When you bring your horse to AA Horsemanship even if it's just for one day you are given a lifetime support line, just give Ashley a call with the problems you are running into and she will be able to donate time to work through the problem with you plus discounts on continued training and tuneups! AA Horsemanship also offers payment plans without extra fees and ease of payment allowing you to pay cash, credit, or by check!
Q: If I bring my own feed will I still be charged for boarding my horse with AA Horsemanship while in training?
A: You are welcome to bring your own hay, grain, medication, and fly spray for Ashley to give to your horse. Ashley requires horses to have high quality hay (coastal, bermuda, or tifton), alfalfa, and grain. You do not have to provide all 3 but will be charged for the feed Ashley uses of her own as well as a fee for medication. If you chose to use Ashley’s feed altogether you will be charged $8/day. Please make sure your hay and grain is high quality (sweet feed is not allowed) as your horse will be putting in a lot of time and effort and needs the nutrients to keep weight up and muscle out nicely. If the feed you provided runs out and is not replaced in time you will be charged the amount needed to replace.
Q: How much does boarding cost?
A: If you chose to have Ashley use her choice in premium feeds boarding will cost $8/day. This will include medication (fly spray, medication if needed, etc.), premium alfalfa hay, high quality tifton hay, and Purina Strategy feeds.
Q: Instead of Alfalfa hay can I provide alfalfa pellets or cubes?
A: Yes, cubes and pellets are welcome to be used instead of flakes of hay if you wish to provide your own.
Q: How do payment plans work?
A: Payment plans are very flexible however you will not be allowed to pick your horse up until the full amount of training and boarding has been paid (if not paid on time you will be charged the extra amount for boarding and will have up to 2 weeks to pay the bill in full or your horse becomes property of AA Horsemanship). You are welcome to split payments daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Ashley does not charge extra if you wish to not pay for training in full on day 1.
Q: If I decide to bring my own feed how much should I bring?
A: It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to hay. I recommend bringing at least 1 bale of hay for every 2 days of training and 1 bag of grain for every 8 days. If there are any leftovers after training you will be given those back.
Q: When will my horse start training?
A: Your horse will start training the day after your drop him/her off.
Q: Am I allowed to watch training sessions?
A: Yes, if you would like to watch Ashley work with your horse you are welcome to but please give Ashley a heads up before hand to ensure she doesn’t work him/her before you arrive. This will not be treated as a lesson you will just be spectating.
Q: Can I bring a camera to my lesson?
A: Yes, cameras are allowed.
Q: Is there any extra fees for blanketing or giving my horse supplements?
A: No, if you provide a blanket, fly sheet, etc and/or supplements there is no additional fee.
Q: Do I need to provide any tack, buckets, etc?
A: No, all that AA Horsemanship requires to training is your horse and a copy of an up to date negative coggins.
Q: If I send my horse off to bootcamp and he needs more time than the 8 weeks will I be charged more for training?
A: No, the bootcamp program allows your horse to stay with Ashley for up to 10 weeks in training. The only extra charge will be boarding per day at $8/day unless you provide your own feed. Most horses will be finished at 8 weeks but occasionally some horses don't learn as fast and will need the extra few weeks.
Q: Should I put shoes on my horse?
A: Shoes are not required but are recommended. Ashley trains in the hill country which means lots and lots of rocks! Horses that are tender footed or not use to rocks should have shoes on. If you want shoes on your horse but he/she is not ready for a farrier by drop off time please let Ashley know and she will get her farrier out once the horse is ready.
Q: What shots are required before sending my horse into training?
A: An up to date negative coggins is the only thing Ashley requires. It is highly recommended that you update all your horses with shots and keep on a worming plan to ensure your horse doesn't get sick. Shots include but not limited to rabies, tetanus, flu rhino, Strangles, and west nile. Horses are moved in and out of the property so it is best to plan ahead.
Q: Can I send a horse to you for training and have you sell him/her after?
A: Yes. if you would like to sell your horse after training Ashley will help you. Ashley does not charge extra to post on Facebook that your horse will be available for sale after training. If you would like Ashley to handle the sale video, advertise, and handle all showings their is a fee at 15% of sale price plus $8/day for board unless you provide feed. Ashley will work with potential buyers and ensure a correct fit for your horse. Check out the consignment program page for more information.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Ashley accepts all forms of payment including credit cards and paypal at no additional cost.
